National Campaign Against Corruption”

Activity in Mumbai Colleges

India has been witnessing the ugly and shameful face of corruption, whether it is Commonwealth Games, 2G Spectrum scam or Adarsh Housing Society scam in Mumbai. These are only a few scams that have come in limelight but still there are a lot to name. India an economically growing country is being shattered by these day-today scams.

Yuva Satta and Vidyarthi Satta, the Youth energy of Lok Satta Aandolan, Mumbai jointly is trying to encourage young people, college students and enlightened citizens to fight against corruption and ask for cancellation of 2G Spectrum allocations by sending a post card addressed to the Prime Minister. Yuva Satta and Vidyarthi Satta had organized a pilot campaign in two colleges of Parel, Mumbai- First in M. D. College on 13th Jan2011 from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm and the very next day in R. M. Bhatt College from 6.00 pm to 9.30 pm.

The main purpose of the campaign was to awaken the Indian youth against corruption, making them realize their responsibility towards the nation and helping them in raising their voice against corruption. As part of this effort, we encouraged the youth to join the ‘National Campaign against Corruption.’ And join our movement to conduct anti-corruption drive in Mumbai college campuses.

Students were encouraged to write a petition to the Prime Minister on a post card. The petition appeals to the Prime Minister to take concrete steps to punish the guilty parties’ in the 2G Spectrum allocation scam and to effect institutional changes to prevent such instances of corruption in future.

During the campaign Yuva Satta and Vidyarthi Satta experienced great enthusiasm among the youth. Most of them wrote post cards and many of them became volunteers for the movement. There was good response from students. They were really inspired and wished to fight against corruption.

Thanking you,
