Job position : Training and Research Assistant
Job Specific Responsibility: Facilitation of the Right to Health Advocacy Campaign in Karnataka
Work Area: Primarily Karnataka with a special focus on the districts.
Organisation: Community Health Cell unit of SOCHARA, Bangalore, India
Do you have a deep interest in issues related to the health rights of the marginalized/oppressed communities, and a commitment to improving the quality of Health Care system in India? Are you interested to work for human development and human right to health of the underprivileged by way of developing human resources for health at the district and sub-district level, training and research, taking forward the campaign to right to health and primary health care? Then you can apply and it would help if you had the following:
· Perspective and framework of thinking on Rights Based Approach to work and the perspectives of Human Rights
· Minimum 5 years of field experience related to the social-political, economic-cultural rights issues;
· Post-graduation in any social sciences/humanities/Management/Public Health/Community Health or Graduate in medical sciences with experience
· An ability to work in a small team with good interpersonal and communication skills
· Understanding of health in the socio-political aspects/determinants of health related to food security, shelter, gender, caste etc.
· Fluency or Fairly good knowledge of English,
· Fairly good knowledge of the basic computer operations.
· Reading, Writing and Speaking knowledge of Kannada (essential)
· Flexibility to travel to the districts in Karnataka (Min 10-12 days a month - essential)
· A fairly long-term commitment to the organisation / work.
Job description:
Facilitation of the Right to Health Advocacy Campaign in Karnataka
Major Job Responsibilities:
· Coordinating and Networking with various people’s movements, community based organisations (CBOs)and NGOs for the promotion of Right to Health and Healthcare
· Organizing and conducting trainings in the field of community health, public health and right to health care issues keeping in mind CHC’s focus on the oppressed and marginalised communities, both in the rural and urban areas.
· To assist in the training programmes undertaken by CHC.
· To coordinate the work of Jana Arogya Andolana Karnataka (JAAK) in promoting the Right to Healthcare Advocacy, Networking/coalition and mobilization towards promoting Health as a Human Right
Salary: Consolidated amount of Rs.18,000/- p.m. to start with. Could be revised after a year basing on performance. Applicants with more experience are encouraged to apply. This is a full time position.
